Portland — The Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority, a public transportation authority in charge of developing and providing passenger rail service between Maine and Boston and North American Traveler of North Reading Mass., announces their new Downeaster Travel Packages brochure.

The Downeaster Packages Program has expanded to offer some of the most unique travel itineraries for individuals or groups. Wells, Boothbay Harbor, Rockland and Camden were all added as destinations along with Halifax Nova Scotia. These destinations were made possible by partnering with the Maine Eastern Railroad and the new Nova Star Ferry service out of Portland.

The packages are designed as single destination or comprehensive multi-destination packages starting with simple day trips, to overnights and seven-night customized tours.

“We are truly excited by the expansion of our product line within Maine and now Nova Scotia. The program will have greater economic impact in Maine because these new products will open up new customers to ride the Downeaster,” said Steven Grasso, president of Downeaster Travel Packages, in a news release.

The program will utilize a vast range of hotels, historic inns and bed and breakfasts. Local restaurants, transportation providers and attractions all take part in the program to create the packages.
