NAGA Gymnasts compete at MIT and Kennebunk!

North Atlantic Gymnastics Level 3-5 Compulsory Team

Members of the North Atlantic Gymnastics Academy girls' gymnastics team had exciting weekend of competition last week! The compulsory girls team (levels 3-5) competed at the Spring Fling hosted by GymNation in Kennebunk, Maine.

The level 3 team successfully placed 2nd in the team competition 1 point behind the host team, GymNation. Individual results included:

In the 9-10 year old division, McKenna LaBrozzi of Owl's Head finsished second all-around with a 36.1; just 0.25 behind the first place finish. McKenna also won the vault with a score of 9.2 and uneven bars with a score of 9.35. McKenna placed third on the beam with a 8.8 and fifth on floor with a score of 8.75. Elise Condon of Owl's Head placed 4th all-around with a score of 35.1. She was also 3rd on the floor exercise with an 8.9 and 4th on vault with an 8.9. Malaya Moores of Camden placed 3rd on the uneven bars with a score of 9.2 and Kelsee Brown of Friendship finished third on vault with a 9.0. Julia Peasley of Lincolnville tied for 7th place with a 3.3 and Gabby Genthner of Camden was 11th in the all-around with a 30.7.

In the 7-8 year old division Ella Graffam of Rockport and Britta Denny of Rockport tied for 4th all-around with a score of 33.95. Ella was also 2nd on vault with a 9.1 and 4th on floor exercise with an 8.6. Britta placed 3rd on bars with a 8.55, 4th on vault with an 8.8, and 4th on beam with an 8.5. Camden Contakos of Rockport placed 7th all-around with a 32.15. She also placed 3rd on the floor exercise with an 8.65 and fifth on beam with an 8.45. Lea Zwecker of Rockport placed 8th all-around with a 28.85. Lea also placed 5th on vault with a score of 8.6.

The level 4 team successfully finished 3rd behind Leaps and Bounds of Fairfield and the CLC YMCA. Individual results included:

Haley Black of Rockland finished 3rd all-around with a score of 35.2. Haley placed 2nd on the uneven bars with a 9.0, 2nd on beam with a 9.15, and 4th on vault and Floor exercise with an 8.5 and 8.55 respectively. Eleanor Greer of Rockport placed 5th all-around with a score of 34.15. Eleanor was also 3rd on the uneven bars with an 8.55 and 4th on balance beam with an 8.8. Genevieve Tempio-Wilson of Hope placed 6th all-around with 32.75. Genevieve also placed 4th on vault with a score of 8.5. Genevieve also received the judges award for "Best Save on Balance Beam".

North Atlantic Gymnastics Academy has 2 girls that compete at level 5. Three individuals are needed to compete as a team so Lauren Schenk of Rockport and Audrey Scott of Hope compete individually. In the 8-10 year old division, Lauren placed 3rd all-around (35.725). Lauren also placed 3rd on vault (9.1), uneven bars (8.6), balance beam (9.05), and floor exercise (8.975). Lauren also received the judges award for "Best Cast on Bars". Audrey won the all-around in the 11+ age division with a score of 33.9. Audrey won the uneven bars (8.4) and placed second on the floor exercise (8.6). Audrey was 3rd on vault with a 9.0 and 3rd on balance beam with a 7.9.

The level 7 girls competed in the 2014 Starlight Invitational hosted by MGC at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. NAGA was the only Maine club to be represented at this meet with hundreds of competitors. Marta Denny of Rockport placed 4th on the uneven bars (8.6) in the senior division.

The girls have 2 weeks off before competing at the Maine State Championships April 5-6 at the Alfond Youth Center in Waterville!
