Music, authors, art at Harbor Park
Rockland — The annual Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors Show will run Friday through Sunday, Aug. 8 through 10, in Harbor Park and along the waterfront. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
In addition to everything having to do with the show’s title, including the popular World Championship Boatyard Dog® Trials Sunday morning, the show offers live music each day. On Friday, the tunes will be provided by the Blue Hill Brass, which performs music from all genres and periods on tubas, trombone, trumpet and more. On Saturday, the University of Maine at Machias Ukulele Band, comprised of folks from both the campus and surrounding community, will strum their way through a wide range of music. And on Sunday, the Midcoast’s Bel-Isle Jazz Group — featuring David Clarke on guitar, Eric Davis or Ezra Rugg on bass and Scott Rapaport on sax — add smooth stylings to the show’s final day.
Vendors include a number focused on photography and craft; and authors on hand to sign their works include Judith Silva, signing “The Voyage of Yankee Lady: Circumnavigating New England on a Sailboat and Voyage of Albatross.”
Tickets are $12, free for children younger than 12, available in advance by calling (800) 565-4951 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Note that no strollers are allowed on the docks and no pets are allowed on the show grounds. For more information and a full list of exhibitors and activities, visit maineboats.com/boatshow.
