Music and Reflection for advent
Lincolnville — The United Christian Church invites the community to a series of programs of music and reflection for the advent season starting Sunday, Dec. 2 at 4 p.m. The historic church is located at 18 Searsport Road/Route 173 in Lincolnville Center.
The first program of the four-week series is titled “The Hope of Healing” and will be led by the Rev. Susan Stonestreet with piano accompaniment by Clayton Clemetson. According to Pastor Stonestreet, healing is a gift to be received and to be given. Advent, the beginning of the worship year for most churches in the Western tradition, is a time to let down, to let out, to let go and to let Spirit carry what we cannot carry alone. Clemetson’s soothing improvisational piano pieces will provide the perfect accompaniment to the healing service.
The Sunday series will continue Dec. 9 with HeartSong, a Waldo County hospice choral group; Dec. 16 with the Mount View High School Chamber Singers’ Carols in the Round concert; and conclude Dec. 23 with a Taizé service.
All are welcome; the church is fully handicapped accessible. There will be a free-will donation. For more information, call Stonestreet at 763-4526.
