Museum seeks donations for fall auction, flea market
Owls Head — The Owls Head Transportation Museum is seeking donations of goods and services for The Great Fall Auction and Flea Market.
The two-day event, held Saturday, Nov. 2 and Sunday, Nov. 3, is an annual museum fundraiser and open house. Museum admission is free both days of the event.
From vacations and gift certificates to heating oil, vehicles, home furnishings and more, The Great Fall Auction is an event that attracts a broad audience of bidders and spectators. It has been referred to as “one stop holiday shopping.”
While the live auction will take place Sunday, Saturday will feature a flea market, auction sneak preview, silent auction and registration for Sunday’s live auction, all beginning at 9 a.m. On Sunday, auction preview, registration and silent auction bidding begin at 8 a.m., and the live auction begins at 9:30 a.m.
Saturday's flea market will consist of hundreds of donated items not included in the auction. Proceeds from the event will be used to support museum programs.
The auction includes several private donations made by members and friends of the museum. These include pre-owned automobiles as well as antiques, office and home furniture, tools and collectibles.
Featured items to be auctioned include an Aruba vacation, a new Fisher snowplow and vacation packages galore. Hundreds of items large and small will be offered for sale at the auction.
No donation is too large or too small to consider for this important museum fundraiser, which is supported by the generosity of both businesses and private donors. Additionally, museum personnel will happily pick up large donations at their location.
To discuss donation please contact Auction Coordinator Toby Stinson at 594-4418.
