Murrow bio-pic in Friday film series
Thomaston — Friends of the Thomaston Public Library presents its Friday Night Film Series with screenings Fridays at 6:30 p.m. in the community room of Thomaston Public Library in the Thomaston Academy Building, 60 Main St./Route 1. The theme for October’s movies is Political Plots.
The Oct. 12 film is "Good Night and Good Luck", a 93-minute film from 2005 that is rated PG. George Clooney's Oscar-nominated docudrama pits veteran television newsman Edward R. Murrow against a determined Sen. Joseph McCarthy and his single-minded crusade to quell the threat of communism in America. David Strathairn portrays Murrow, who maps his strategy with his producer and confidant, Fred Friendly, portrayed by George Clooney.
Friday Night Films are open to the public and free of charge, but donations are gratefully accepted. The Thomaston Academy Building is handicapped accessible from the rear entrance and light refreshments will be served. For more information, call the library at 354-2453.
