Rockport — The Camden Hills mountain bike team, in a similar pattern as the previous 12 years, has gotten off to a stellar start in defense of its state championship.
The Windjammers, who won their 13th straight state title last year and went on to capture the New England championship, rolled to convincing victories in two of their first three races.
The 'Jammers compete as members of the Maine High School Mountain Bike Series, which includes five races in addition to the state championship race. Teams also compete in a few non-series events throughout the season.
Camden Hills picked up victories in a four-team race Sept. 26 at Hallowell and a four-team season-opening race Sept. 15 at Maine Sport Outfitters in Rockport, while also performing well in the 12 Hours of Bradbury Mountain Race, a non-series event, Sept. 22.
