Camden — Thanks to Mother Nature's recent generosity — in the form of many inches of snow — ski and snowboard conditions at the Camden Snow Bowl are "fantastic," said Beth Ward, acting director of the Camden Snow Bowl/Camden Parks and Recreation.

"We have opened the big-T [bar] to the top [of the mountain], and the chair(lift) is open, as well," she said. "We are cranking away and everything is running smoothly. We had about 18 inches of fresh new snow in the past week and right now the weather couldn’t be better. The sun is out and the conditions are flawless."

The Snow Bowl will be open on Tuesday, Jan. 1 (New Year's Day) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and, starting on Wednesday, Jan. 2, will be open for night skiing. Weekend hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The mountain will be closed Mondays and Tuesdays starting Jan. 7.

The Nordic trail is open and groomed. Tubing will open next weekend. Hosmer Pond is not safe for any activity at this point, Ward said.

"This promises to be a great year," Ward said. "We have more snow now than we had all last year and it’s still early."
