Miss Maine Collegiate 2013, Callie MacQueston coming to Torch Ride
Torch Ride 2012 is pleased to have Callie MacQueston attend this years' ride!
Callie Lynne MacQueston of Vinalhaven won the title of Miss Maine Collegiate 2013 at the Maine Academic Scholarship Pageant on Aug. 18 in Thornton Academy’s Garland Auditorium in Saco.
Callie Lynne MacQueston is the daughter of Carole MacQueston of Vinalhaven. She is a summa cum laude graduate from the University of Maine in Orono and holds a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in Disability Studies. Callie is currently enrolled in a Master’s program at the same university. She is the former 2009 Sea Goddess, 2011 Miss Central Maine Egg Festival Collegiate and 2012 Miss Vermont Collegiate. In March of 2012, Callie competed at the national level where she place in the top 15. Callie won the interview award during this year’s pageant and the community service award, clocking over 450 hours of service for the organization, which included a trip to Washington DC to lobby for awareness of Pulmonary Fibrosis.
The newly crowned queens will represent and promote the national platform, The Crown C.A.R.E.S. (creating a respectful environment in schools) a bullying prevention program promotes awareness and teaches tolerance for a safe and bully free environment to school-age children, youth, and teens. Titleholders accomplished this by reading age appropriate children’s books to the class, and discussing strategies for prevention, school core values, and healthy school behaviors.
