For weeks, Midcoast middle school distance athletes have been on the run — literally and figuratively.
The Busline League middle school cross-country campaign continues at a fast pace with the championship meet on the horizon.
There were five regular-season meets scheduled at 11 venues this fall, as the regular-season races will finish on Thursday, Oct. 6.
The schools in the league include Troy Howard Middle School of Belfast, Searsport District Middle School, Islesboro Central School, Oceanside Middle School of Rockland/Thomaston, Camden-Rockport Middle School, Appleton Village School, Great Salt Bay of Damariscotta, Medomak Middle School of Waldoboro, Boothbay Region Elementary School, Lincolnville Central School and St. George Elementary School.
Meets and races have been held, thus far, at Troy Howard and GSB on Sept. 8, CRMS and Lincolnville on Sept. 15, Boothbay, Islesboro and Searsport on Sept. 22, CRMS and Medomak on Sept. 29 and GSB and Troy Howard on Oct. 6.
The league championship races will be on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at Camden-Rockport Middle School. The girls will race at 3:45 p.m. and boys at 4:30 p.m.
