Midcoast residents earn UMaine Certificate in Nonprofit Organization Management
Belfast. Two midcoast residents, Kristen Lindquist, Camden and Andrea Rouillard, Waldo, were honored as they were awarded a University of Maine certificate. Both students completed coursework and requirements for the University of Maine Certificate in Nonprofit Management through its Belfast branch, the Hutchinson Center, Route 3, Belfast.
Both began the program two years ago and taking a variety of classes completed the program this June. The Certificate in Nonprofit Management is a great resource for preparing and coaching people who are working in nonprofits. With a large number of nonprofits operating in the state of Maine, this is an incredibly valuable resource. This program gives participants the opportunity to network with others working in similar fields and learn from the experienced and seasoned professionals.
The next session in the 2012 Certificate Program is Financial Management in the Nonprofit Organization. It was be held on Friday July 20, with areas to be covered to include approaches to budgeting, necessary recordkeeping, monitoring cash flow, understanding the balance sheet, and segregating duties in a small office (safeguarding assets).
The workshop will begin at 8:30 a.m. and run until 4:00 p.m. and is being taught by Chip Bradstreet. Chip Bradstreet is Chief Financial Officer for Broadreach Family & Community Services. He earned an MBA from the University of Maine, Orono, worked in public accounting and private industry, and has over 30 years experience in non-profit administration and financial management.
Upon completion of six of the workshops that comprise the program, individuals will earn a certificate in Non-Profit Organization Management from the University of Maine Hutchinson Center. The remaining 2012 Nonprofit Management sessions offered this year are: August 13 & 14 (2 day program) – Writing Winning Grant Proposals; September 7 – Survival Skills in an Age of Declining Resources; and October 22 – Marketing the Nonprofit Organization.
