Midcoast members in Maine Media spotlight
Thomaston — The Saturday morning, Jan. 4, meeting of Maine Media Women will turn the spotlight on three of the organization’s own members and their current work. The meeting will take place at the American Legion Hall, behind the downtown business block, and guests are always welcome to attend.
Long-time member Dorothy Nyman of Rockland will be the first speaker. Nyman, who is 82, is writing a biography of her grandmother, Annie Benson Muller, a woman ahead of her time both intellectually and socially. She was also an accomplished watercolor artist, and Nyman will show a few of her paintings during the presentation.
The second speaker will be Robinsunne of Rockport, a fiber and mixed-media artist who has been focusing recently on the theme of hearts. She will display several of her heart works, as well as other pieces, when she addresses the group.
Finally, new member Margie Kivel will talk about and read from her poetry. She is a member of a poetry group that meets regularly in Rockland under the guidance of that city’s Poet Laureate, Carol Bachofner.
The meeting, like all MMW meetings, is open to the public. It will begin at 9:15 a.m. with coffee and networking; the program follows, beginning at 10 a.m. Suggested donation is $3 for members, $5 for guests.
