The very stately old barn in the top photo is, or was, the Haligan family farm barn at 271 Limerock Street just across from where Oliver Street branches off Limerock. It was just up the street from where I grew up with my three brothers, Dick, Ronny, & Jerry.

The farm was magnificent in its day and it certainly has retained a great deal of its austere dignity. Wonderful to see it again.

The photo brings back many memories of farm critters there in the late 1930's, 40's, and 50's, including an occasional pig slaughtering, which wasn't quite so pretty--important to the farm, but not a pretty thing to watch.

Thanks very much, especially for that photo of the decorated barn. The other photos of the Maine that I remember well are wonderful, too. For almost the second day in a row I'm saying thanks to you, Beth Brimingham. I sure wish I had your talent.
