Midcoast lens: Frosty flock
Lincolnville residents and town office staff had a surprise Monday, Sept. 17, when they discovered the lawn of Lincolnville Town Office was the landing spot for a flock of pink flamingo lawn ornaments. The air that greeted the sunrise felt decidedly fall-like as people readied to begin their work week, a sharp contrast to the appearance of the bright pink birds.
Lincolnville Town Administrator David Kinney said town officials received a note from Waldoboro Fire Department taking credit for the flock of flamingos.
"A friend of the Waldoboro Fire Department has paid for you to be flocked by our flamingos," the note reads. "The flamingos will be visiting your lawn for a couple of days, and then move to another friend's home."
According to the town of Waldoboro website, the flamingo flocking is a fundraiser for the Waldoboro Fire Department. For $20 the Waldoboro Fire Department will "'flock' a property of your choice," the website states.
Kinney said in an email he has suspicions about who may be responsible for arranging the good-spirited prank, but has "yet to confirm" them.
