Although the sunrise of Feb. 9 was calm, stormy weather unfolded throughout the day. All Midcoast schools were closed, businesses closed early, and traveling became hazardous. Although all area plow crews were all hands on deck, the dropping temperature and rising winds took hold. Main Street in Rockland was fairly vacant.
