Midcoast court squads falter in recent days

Three Midcoast high school girls tennis squads were in action in recent days, a scenario that did not yield positive results for Camden Hills, Oceanside and Medomak Valley.

The following is a recap of recently-reported results:

Waterville 4, Camden Hills 1

At Rockport May 12, the Purple Panthers prevailed over the host Windjammers in a match of two previously unbeaten squads.

The individual results, with Camden Hills players listed first, were: In singles, Abby Blakeley lost to Colleen O'Donnell, 0-6, 1-6; Carrie Helmholz, 6-7, 1-6; and Katie Vannorsdall beat Olivia Benissan (score unavailable).

In doubles, Hannah Olsen and Sophia Landry lost to Emma Cristan and Jayme Saulter, 1-6, 2-6; and Emily Haining and Serene Landry lost to Chelsea Cayer and Fotini Shanos, 2-6, 0-6.

In the Maine Principals' Association Heal Point Standings for Eastern Class B, Camden Hills (5-1, 25.1389 points) is fourth, while Waterville (6-0, 38.8889 points) is first in the 17-team region. The top 12 teams qualify for the playoffs.

Maranacook 3, Oceanside 2

At Rockland May 9, the Black Bears edged out the Mariners to pick up the win.

The individual results, with Oceanside players listed first, were: In singles, Lily Butler lost to Lauren Long, 4-8; Alayna Joyce beat Julia Varney, 8-5; and Becca Boggs lost to Caroline Clark, 4-8.

In doubles, Mary Allen and Clara Feltus lost to Olivia Swimm and Victoria Nolette, 6-8; and Meghan McGonagle and Emily Prothero beat Lydia Rice and Abby Wesberry, 8-2.

In the Maine Principals' Association Heal Point Standings for Eastern Class B, Oceanside (4-2, 15.4167 points) is fifth, while Waterville (6-0, 38.8889 points) is first in the 17-team region. The top 12 teams qualify for the playoffs.

Waterville 5, Medomak Valley 0

At Waldoboro May 9, the Purple Panthers remained unbeaten with a victory over the Panthers.

The individual results, with Medomak Valley players listed first, were: In singles, Maggie Ryan lost to Colleen O'Donnell, 0-6, 0-6; while Medomak Valley forfeited at second and third singles.

In doubles, Morgan Black and Stacy Wadsworth lost to Chelsea Cayer and Jayme Saulter, 2-6, 0-6; and Emily Wotton and Nashelle Monroy lost to Fotini Shanos and Emily Doufoure (score unavailable).

In the Maine Principals' Association Heal Point Standings for Eastern Class B, Medomak Valley (1-5, 0.8333 points) is 15th, while Waterville (6-0, 38.8889 points) is first in the 17-team region. The top 12 teams qualify for the playoffs.
