MidCoast Christian Academy holds first polar plunge

Rockland — MidCoast Christian Academy in Thomaston held its first Polar Bear Plunge Feb. 27 on International Polar Bear Day.

Nine students, two staff members, and one parent all jumped into Penobscot Bay at Sound End Beach in Rockland to raise money for an end-of-year trip. It was a blustery 14 degrees and snowing but everyone had a great time and the school raised more than $600 toward their trip.

Included in the plunge were students; Michaela Benner, Jesse Slader, Jacob Slader, Garrett Burns, Sydney Spofford, Jack Becknell, Julia Batty, Veronica Odone, Joseph Sampson and Administrator River Radley, Science Teacher Melanie DiLorenzo and parent Russell Odone.
