Mid-Coast Audubon plans trip to Monhegan
Monhegan — Monhegan Island has long been known as a trap for birds migrating south along the coast of Maine at this time of year. Many songbirds have been found there that are absent or very scarce in the state.
Additionally, if the winds are favorable, many species of hawks are visible overhead.
Mid-Coast Audubon, hoping to find some of these migrants, will sponsor a field trip to Monhegan on Saturday, Sept. 29. Leaders will be available at 10 a.m. on that date. Transportation is available from Port Clyde (Monhegan Boat Lines) at 7 a.m.
Please call John Weinrich, 563-2930, or Dennis McKenna, 563-8439, for more information.
