Mid-Coast Audubon hosts birding field trip

Mar 17, 2014
Snowy Owls are hoped to be spotted during a Saturday, March 22 field trip to southern Maine.

On Saturday, March 22, Mid-Coast Audubon will conduct a field trip to Biddeford Pool, Scarborough Marsh and Pine Point.

Participants will meet at 7:30 a.m. at Hannaford in Damariscotta to carpool to the area which is south of Portland. They should dress warmly in case spring has not sprung.

The group will be seeking this year's ubiquitous Snowy Owls (at Biddeford Pool), early migrants and a variety of waterfowl. If the Snowy Owls have not fled north (unlikely given the severity of the winter) photo ops should be available. On the last birding trip to this area, participants were able to get very close looks at these spectacular birds.

Interested parties should call Dennis McKenna at 563-8439 or John Weinrich at 563-2930 for further information.
