Mid-Coast Audubon hosts bat program
Camden — Mid-Coast Audubon presents local bat enthusiast Annie Kassler Thursday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m. at the Camden Public Library, 55 Main St. in Camden.
The program is free and open to the public. Donations are always welcome.
Kassler has developed connections with bat scientists and enthusiasts throughout Maine and the United States. She will go beyond the myths with a presentation on bats. Bats are likely the most misunderstood and under-appreciated creature on the planet. Many people are surprised to learn that bats play an essential role in the planet’s ecology and global economy.
Kassler will also highlight myths vs. facts, bat skills, and display bat houses. She will also discuss White Nose Syndrome, which is devastating bat populations in Maine and all of eastern North America.
