Merryspring to honor volunteers
Camden — Merryspring Nature Center will be celebrating its active and dedicated base of volunteers with a recognition event Monday, Sept. 30, from 4 to 6 p.m.
The event will recognize all of the hard work volunteers have given to Merryspring during the past year in the upkeep of the gardens, educational programs, trail and grounds work, and fundraisers such as the annual Plant Sale, Kitchen Tour, and Holiday Bazaar.
Groups that partner with Merryspring like the Maine Daylily Society, the American Chestnut Foundation, and youth groups like the annual Children's Garden Club, YMCA youth leadership program, and scouting groups will be among the names of individuals recognized.
More than 5,000 hours of volunteer work goes into Merryspring Nature Center to keep it the unique, beautiful, and active place that it is, and in giving back to the community all volunteers past, present, and future are invited to this event. There will be a photo slideshow, a list of volunteer names, refreshments, and door prizes donated by several local businesses.
All ages are welcome to attend, both Merryspring members and non-members alike. This will be an excellent opportunity to meet fellow volunteers, neighbors, and community members who share a devotion to keeping Merryspring the special place that it is.
