The Oceanside High School math team is made up of students from both Oceanside East and Oceanside West. The meets for the year began in October and ended with the State Meet held in Bangor April 7.

Each meet involves five categories of topics that students prepare for during after school practices. The topics range from Algebra 1 topics to Pre-Calculus topics.

The following students have participated on math team this year:

Seniors: Samantha Calimari, Jamilyn DelBuono, and Cassidy Rolfe; Juniors: Payton Billingsley, Rusty Lawrence, Nick Mahar, Walker Ranney, Jackie Thorbjornsen, Josh Tung, Takota Peasley, and Henry Berry; Sophomores: Krissy McNichol and Michaela Wright; Freshman: Emmanuel Tung; Eighth Grade: Mabel Monroe, Lydia Witherell and Jack Freeman.

The team participates in the Central Maine Math League, which is one of five math leagues in the Maine Association of Math Leagues, an organization that oversees math competitions in high schools throughout the state.

At the conclusion of the regular math team season, the highest scorers in each grade are recognized. This year, juniors Josh Tung and Rusty Lawrence were the eighth and 10th highest scorers respectively in the Central Maine Math League. Emmanuel Tung was the second highest freshman scorer in the CMML. Tung was also the team’s highest scorer for the year.
