By Loyal Biscuit Co. | Mar 17, 2014
Meet Mel!

Your name: My real name is Melody, but everyone knows me as Mel. Although, I have been called Heidi or Heidi's sister, which many are surprised when I say that I am neither :)

Which store do you work in or what is your main duty within The Loyal Biscuit?: I can usually be found in the Rockland store but I have been known to make guest appearances in Camden and Belfast. My main job is to keep the Rockland store running smoothly and I do the ordering. I have also had the opportunity to do some of the "behind the scene" office work with Heidi, which is quite fun learning from one of the best!

How long have you been with The Loyal Biscuit Co.?: I have been a Loyal Biscuit family member for three tail wagging years!

How many furry, feathered or scaled family members do you have and what are their names and ages?: I have quite a list but it is not as long as some others (cough cough...Robin). First I will start with my 2-legged furry critters, my boys Dylan-15 and Connor-10. Now my 4-legged furry critters are Izzy-my 6 year old black lab, Daisy-my 3 year old yellow lab, Breezy-my 11 month old boxer baby that many of you know, Charlee and Monkee-are my 2 year old kitties and last but not least Chance-my 13 year old mini horse.

What is the one thing that Loyal Biscuit customers might not know about you?: Ok fine, here it is....I cry easily. This tough outer shell doesn't fair well with goodbyes or when someone else cries, even if they are happy tears I still let 'em roll. Heck I can get a good cry from Dumbo, Bambi or The Fox and the Hound. I even cry when Peter comes home on the Folgers coffee commercial during the holidays. Yes people, Mel is a sap!

List 3 favorites (e.g. color, food, movie, brand of toothpaste, etc.): I love the color pink. I love my flip flops. I love the smell of salt air and being out on the ocean or on a beach next to the ocean. That is my happy place.

How do you spend your time out of work?: My time out of work is spent being a mom, playmate, homework enforcer, rule maker, taxi, sometimes nurse, sometimes referee and ATM machine, but I would not change any of my many roles!

Who would win in a fight, a caveman or an astronaut?: My money is on the caveman.

What is one of your favorite products we sell and why is it a favorite?: I love the Weiss Walkie Anti-Pull  Leash because it has a very simple design and is an easy,  humane way to teach your dog to stop pulling you down the street.

If you could spend the afternoon with any three people, living or passed, who would you choose and what would you spend the time doing?: #1 would have to be my grandfather. Both of my grandfathers had passed away before I was born, so I don't know what it is like to have a grandpa. My mom's dad was a lobsterman so I would spend our time out on his boat, watching him work, enjoying the ocean that we both love and learning all that I could learn about him. #2 would have to be an afternoon with my great guy and best friend Freeman. We would spend the afternoon sitting on a beach with our toes in the sand, no schedule and no worries. #3 would be Jack Hanna. Who wouldn't want to tag along, skipping across the world and going on exotic animal adventures with him? I do!

If you had three wishes that you could use with only yourself in mind, what would you wish for (and "more/infinite wishes" doesn't count)?: I would wish for a pink Daisy Duke jeep, my very own pet kangaroo and for a tropical beachfront home that my family and friends could escape to when we have had enough of winter!

What are you most proud of?: My 2 2-legged critters Dylan and Connor. They are two very smart, handsome, witty and caring young men and I am so proud to be their mom!

If you could hire any fictional character (from any median) to work a day with you in the store, who would you pick and why?: I would choose Ariel, the Little Mermaid. I love the movie and think that singing with her all day long would be so much fun!

What is one fact you learned in the past week?: The #1 fact that I learned this week is....Spring is not that far away and this snow WILL melt!

If you could convince Heidi and Joel to open up a Loyal Biscuit anywhere in the world for you to work at, where would you choose?: I don't think that I would have to do much arm twisting to get Heidi and Joel to open a beachfront Loyal Biscuit in the Caribbean for me to work at!

Tell us a joke: What kind of shoes do frogs love to wear?  Open toad :)

Make sure you check out the previous staff interviews with Heidi, Ashley, and Danielle!
