Meet the Artists at the Market
Waldoboro — The Medomak River Community Market, a cooperative market in the heart of Waldoboro village, will host a Meet the Artist open house Saturday, April 20, from 2 to 5 p.m. In addition, member Susan Price will be planting seeds with children to honor the upcoming Earth Day.
The market caries a wide variety of handmade, Maine-made products including beeswax candles, hand-made soaps, pottery, cards, photos, jewelry, children’s clothing, handspun and dyed wools, felted items, stained glass items and up-cycled building salvage materials. The market’s owner/members thought no one can explain a creation better than its creator, so the monthly Meet the Artist event was born.
The third Saturday of every month, the market will feature one or two of its member-artists. The events will be an opportunity to learn about the artists and their crafts. Featured this month will be one of the market’s returning members, Kim Scheimreif of Sheperds and Such Homesteading. Scheimreif is a talented beeswax candle maker and fiber felter. Also highlighted will be new member Andrew Hov of Art-i-facts. Hov creates fully functional and esthetically pleasing reproduction pieces of aboriginal tools from around the world.
