THOMASTON — The Thomaston 4th of July Committee announced that Mr. and Ms. Independence Day 2012 are Nathaniel “Nate” Boggs and Tamra Wallace.
They are both graduated seniors from Oceanside High School, and were chosen by the faculty based on their grades, activities, leadership, community involvement and positive outlook.
Wallace is the daughter of Lindy Wallace and Kevin Kaler of Thomaston. Graduating high school as salutatorian, Wallace was involved in student government, including student body president for the 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 school years. She was a member of the National Honor Society and played four years of varsity softball. Wallace participated in musicals, band and chorus throughout high school. Currently working summers at Megunticook Golf Club, she will attend the University of Maine at Orono next year to study secondary education.

Throughout high school, Boggs played a vital role in many organizations, including class president (student government), National Honor Society, varsity soccer, lieutenant governor of Division 4 of the New England Board of Key Clubs, musicals, award-winning one-act productions, varsity tennis and many others. In the fall, Boggs plans to attend Wentworth Institute of Technology to study architecture.
