Medomak Valley looks for daily improvement, to be competitive

Waldoboro — The following is a synopsis of the 2014 Medomak Valley High School girls soccer team:

Coach/years coached current team: Larry Jensen, fourth year.

Last year's record/playoff information: 3-9-2, 14th in Eastern Class B. The Panthers did not qualify for the playoffs.

Roster: Seniors Jordan Moore, Olivia Ryan, Lexi Genthner, Nicole Nicholls and Ashley Wilson; juniors Maggie Cox, Sophie Cohen, Emily Wotton, Miranda Belcher, Emylee Leary, Brianna Luce, Kayleigh Curtis, Hannah Watmough and Stephanie Hill; sophomores Chelsea Ripley, Maggie Ryan and Nicole Obuchon; and freshmen Jane Vannoy, Hallie Kunesh and Gabby DePatsy.

Known graduation losses: Sami Griffin, Amanda Young and Taylor Mason.

Significant impact players: Moore, Maggie Cox and Cohen.

Team strengths: Versatility and experience.

Team goals: To work hard, practice with a purpose and to improve daily.

Top league opponents: Erskine Academy of South China, Oceanside of Rockland/Thomaston, Camden Hills of Rockport and Morse of Bath.

Outlook: “As we are preparing for our upcoming season, we have to work on shoring up our defense, work on spacing, finding goal scorers and depth at each position,” said Jensen. “We are trying to create as many competive situations as possible. We need to stay focused, motivated, communicate and have fun in the process.”
