Medomak players preview one-act

Waldoboro — Medomak Valley High School is one of the 77 schools that will participate in the 2013 Maine Drama Festival. In order to prepare for competition, and share their entry with their friends, family and community, the troupe will offer a one-night-only preview performance Saturday, March 2 at 7:30 p.m.

MVHS’ play is “Speed Date” by Janet Allard. Mentored by retired SAD 40 instructor Nancy Durgin, the play is directed by students Kristen Simmons and Amanda Dever. The short comedy has a cast of nine and crew of three.

Admission to the preview, presented in the Ronald Dollof Auditorium is pay-what-you-can. MVHS in on Manktown Road.

Friday and Saturday, March 8 and 9, nine regional competitions will be take place around the state with schools presenting plays ranging from the classics to original student-written works. Winners from each regional will be selected by a panel of judges to advance to the State Finals on March 23 and 24. MVHS will compete in Class A at the Midcoast Regional at Oceanside High School in Rockland. For more information, visit mainedramacouncil.com.
