Medomak, Five Town tussle in EMMSFL gameGess scores four TDs to key MMS, Schecter involved in three for Five Town
Camden — There has been plenty of running, passing, tackling, kicking and touchdowns as the 18-team Eastern Maine Middle School Football League is in fine midseason form.
Midcoast teams from Medomak Middle School of Waldoboro, Five Town (Camden-Rockport Middle School), Oceanside of Thomaston/Rockland and Troy Howard Middle School of Belfast are among those who toil in weekly games.
On Tuesday, Oct. 4, the young Windjammers hosted the Riverhawks at the Camden Snow Bowl, as MMS prevailed 33-24. Jakob Gess scored four touchdowns and Colvin Strandring one to lead the visitors.

The EMMSFL, which has an eight-game schedule, includes Bangor, Troy Howard, Brewer, Bucksport, Five Town, Foxcroft of Dover, Ellsworth, Hampden, Hermon, Lincoln, Medomak, Mount Desert Island, Newport, Oceanside, Old Town, Orono, Pittsfield and Ridgeview.
The Riverhawks include Colvin Strandring, Evan Mariano, Joshua MacDougal, Damian Henry, Jakob Gess, Nolan Grubb, Kaleb Morrison, Teddy Cotton, Zeke Hesseltine, Dominick Wasilowski, Dean Batlis III, Garret Hutchins, Gavin Anderson, Jethro Pease, Levi Ward, Austin Stone, Miles Eugley and Liam Boucher. The coaches are Fritz Miller and Darrell Hutchins.
Five Town includes Landen Stearns, Aidan Schecter, Ryan Clifford, Ben Craft, Joey Corey, Enzo Russillo, Ian Dionne, Will Jurewitz, Will Thorn, J.J. Harrington, Jordan Durkee, Mason Chadwick, Nate Bartlett, Simon Polk, Joseph Coffey, Diesel Morgenstern, Caleb Sabanty, Dylan Gordon, Dakota Pendleton, Addison Barnhill, Dylan Hastings. The coaches are Joe Russillo, Greg Polk, Tim Doran, Ross Bartlett, Dan Wellman and Isaac Bartlett.
Five Town had beaten Bangor 12-7 and Oceanside 21-18, and lost to Brewer 24-14 and MDI 32-14, before falling to the Riverhawks.
Previously, MMS lost to Pittsfield, MDI, Hampden and Bucksport, with scores unavailable.
