Medicinal herb workshop planned in Waldoboro
Waldoboro — The art of tea making has been prized for many thousands of years. In fact, it is one of the most common methods for the consumption of medicinal herbs.
Visit Medomak River Community Market — a cooperatively owned arts and craft market located at 17 Friendship St. in Waldoboro Village — this coming Sunday, Oct. 20, at 1 p.m. to discuss the benefits of medicinal herbs and how they may be used in teas to either prevent or lessen the effects of common ailments.
Cooperative member Kim Scheimreif, whose recently published article “Medicine in Your Own Backyard” in Home Education Magazine, will be sharing her knowledge of medicinal plants. She will include how to forage for native medicinal plants, information on medicine wheel herb gardens, and how to prepare herbs for tea.
This is a BYOC — bring your own cup — event. The market will provide hot water and herbs for sampling. Each participant will leave with a bit of tea and a bunch of knowledge. There will also be herbs available for purchase.
