Medical issue suspected in rollover accident
Camden — A two-vehicle accident Wednesday, June 6, closed Route 1 in Camden for about 30 minutes while emergency crews cared for patients and righted an overturned vehicle.
A 2009 Subaru operated by 65-year-old Milton Sprague of Bangor was traveling south on Route 1 in the vicinity of Salmon Run Drive when Sprague experienced an unspecified medical issue and crossed the center line, according to Camden Detective Curt Andrick. The operator of a 2010 Mercedes van traveling north attempted to avoid a collision with the Subaru, but was struck on the drivers' side rear, leading it to roll on its side, Andrick said.
The operator of the Mercedes, Herbert Niproschke, 74, and passenger Erika Niproschke, 71, both of Dresden, Germany, were not injured in the crash. Sprague was transported to Pen Bay Medical Center by Camden First Aid Association.
No charges were filed in relation to the accident.
Camden police were assisted by Camden Fire Department. Both vehicles were totaled in the crash.
