McMahon Builders,Giving Back by Picking up Trash
Birch Point State Park was a sea of grey t-shirts on Saturday, September 15. Members of McMahon Builders LLC, along with family members and friends, converged upon the beach to participate in the Maine Coastal Program's Coastal Cleanup. This is the second year McMahon Builders has participated in Coastal Cleanup.
"This is our second year doing this, and this year, we almost doubled the amount of people on our team. Last year we had 17 people, and this year we had 32. That's pretty impressive." Steve McMahon, owner of McMahon Builders said, "We feel it's important to take the initiative, set a good example for others, and give back to the community showing we care about keeping the coastline and the areas surrounding them pristine for everyone to enjoy for years to come."
September 15-22 is Coastweek. It is the largest volunteer program in the state. Coastal Cleanup is Coastweek's main event, offering Mainers an opportunity to protect our valuable coastline. Volunteers meet at a specified site, pick up trash, and record the type and amount of debris found.
