Mazurek to shoot for New England golf title

Keene, N.H. — Nick Mazurek, set to enter his junior year at Oceanside High School in the fall, soon will take his talents to the Granite State. His golf talents, that is.

Mazurek is a standout golfer, basketball and baseball player for the Mariners.

Mazurek will participate in the New England High School golf championships on Monday, June 23 at Bretwood Golf Course in Keene, N.H.

Mazurek qualified for the event by shooting a 76 for 18 holes in the state Class A individual schoolboy championships Oct. 19 at Natanis Golf Course in Vassanboro. He finished second overall in the prestigious tournament.

Twelve girls and 12 boys from each New England state are scheduled to participate in the event, which will begin at 8 a.m with the boys teeing off the front nine and the girls off the back nine. All players will complete in 18 holes of stroke play.

The top three boys and girls finishers will receive plaques, while places four through six in each division will receive medals.

Mazurek also qualified for the individual state schoolboy championships as a freshman, shooting 85.
