Mariners surge to 3-0 record with home win over Tigers
Thomaston — The lone Knox County high school soccer team to brave the rainy elements after many other games were postponed Thursday, Sept. 12 due to severe weather, the Oceanside boys soccer team took the pitch at Sam Pendleton Field against visiting Gardiner in hopes of staying unbeaten on the young season.
The damp conditions did not hamper or hinder the efforts of the Mariners (3-0) as the host's defense dug in its heels and the offense did its job leading to a 3-0 win over the Tigers (0-3).
Nick Judge tallied a pair of goals for the winners, while Zach Peaco added another and Caleb Jacob logged two assists for the Mariners.
Phil Atwood minded the net for the Mariners, which held a 23-3 edge in shots over the Tigers.
