Mariners secure second straight win, Panthers fall shortMazurek earns medalist honors with 4-over par 40
The Medomak Valley and Oceanside high school golf teams were in action Monday afternoon, Sept. 9, with the Panthers and Mariners looking to secure their second match victories of the campaign.
In the end, that goal became a reality for Oceanside, while Medomak Valley earned another mark in the loss column.
The Mariners defended their home course with an 18-stroke win over visiting Lincoln Academy of Newcastle, while the Panthers found themselves on the losing end against Mount Ararat of Topsham, falling by 35 shots in a road match.
Team scores are compiled by the low four individual scores from each squad for the nine holes.
The following is a recap of both matches:
Oceanside 175, Lincoln Academy 193
At Rockland Golf Club Sept. 9, the Mariners earned their second win in four tries, besting the visiting Eagles by 18 strokes.
Oceanside's individual scores were: Nick Mazurek 40, Reilly Flanagan 41, Zeke Hamlin 46, Griffin Lombardo 53, Nate Hersom 48 and Zach Bernard 51.
Lincoln Academy's individual scores were: Seward Matel 42, Bailey Plourde 41, Austin Armstrong 59, Liam Brinkler 51, John Potter 60 and Jason Berry 67.
Mazurek was the medalist as he shot 4-over 40 on the par-36 course.
Mount Ararat 195, Medomak Valley 230
At Highland Green Golf Club in Topsham Sept. 9, the Eagles soared to victory over the visiting Panthers.
The individual results, with Panther golfers listed first, were: Adam Wilcox (48) lost to Tyler O'Conner (40); Aaron Smeltzer (59) lost to Cam Cox (51); Tyler Emerson (59) beat Jeremy Williams (61); Cam Allaire (64) lost to Nick Dow (57); and J.P. Lobley (62) lost to Steve Scheman (47). Sawyer Watson also shot 62 for the Eagles.
O'Conner was the medalist as he shot a 5-over 40 on the par-35 course.
