Augusta — The high school cross-country season began for Medomak Valley and Oceanside runners Aug. 25 with the preseason Laliberte Invitational at Cony High School, as 24 teams throughout the state looked to start the year on the right foot.

Mount Ararat of Topsham scored 690 points to finish first, while Brunswick (695) finished a close second and Maranacook of Readfield (704) third.

Medomak Valley (1,760) finished 19th and Oceanside (1,944) 20th.

Mount Ararat's Nathan Mackenzie finished first in the scoring race with a time of 13:53.84, while Mount Ararat's Ted Burns finished first in the non-scoring race with a time of 15:22.52.
