Mariners finish 1-2 in final preseason play day

Waterville — The Oceanside girls lacrosse team had another impressive outing on the pitch Saturday, April 19 at Thomas College as the squad played matches against Lincoln Academy of Newcastle, Mount Ararat of Topsham and Lewiston.

The Mariners, set to begin their inaugural varsity campaign, went 1-2 on the day as they earned a 3-1 win over Lincoln Academy, dropped a 6-0 decision to Mount Ararat and lost 5-2 to Lewiston.

In the team's win over Lincoln Academy, Kelsey Brooks had a goal and an assist, while Abbey Lacasse and Rebekah Freeman also scored goals and Brittany Rytky added an assist.

Alyssa Cardoff made four saves in net in the team's win over Lincoln Academy, and also made one save in the team's loss to Lewiston.

Against the Blue Devils, Freeman scored a goal and logged an assist, while Alexis Pine also tallied a goal.

Oceanside will compete in Class B East this season. Lewiston and Mount Ararat are Class A squads.
