Mariners best Schooners in first Busline League diamond contests
Thomaston — The Busline League baseball and softball seasons began on Thursday, April 17 as Camden-Rockport traveled to neighboring Oceanside to face the Mariners in a pair of eighth-grade contests.
Both Mariner squads emerged victorious, with the baseball team earning a 6-3 win and the softball squad prevailing 12-0 in five innings.
Several games that involved other area teams were slated to begin last week, but were postponed and rescheduled for after the April school vacation week.

Oceanside 8th 12, Camden-Rockport 0 (5 inns.)
At Thomaston April 18, the Mariners held the Schooners to only one hit and coasted to their first win of the season.
Paige Tyler pitched four innings for Oceanside, allowing one hit and one walk, with 11 strikeouts. Kristine Ferguson tossed an inning of relief, fanning one batter.
Lauren Miller (hit, 2 walks 3 runs), Kim Roman (2 hits, walk, 3 runs), Ciara Robinson (2 hits, run) and Casey Pine (hit, 2 runs) paced the Mariner offense.
Oceanside 6, Camden-Rockport 3
At Thomaston April 18, the Mariners doubled up the visiting Schooners and picked up their first win of the season.
Logan Sheridan, Jack Freeman and Anthony Moore all pitched for Oceanside.
Moore led the Mariner offense with three hits, while Brian Johnson, Josh Peaco and Kirt Ilvonen each had hits and RBIs for the hosts.
