Mariner youth field hockey venue change June 19Program to meet at final field on Thomaston Street
Rockland — Registration for the Oceanside Youth Field Hockey program is on-going.
Led be Mariner varsity coaches Joanna Hall and Andrea Garver, the program is a developmental program focused on teaching young athletes the fundamentals of field hockey through drills and small-sided games. Current Oceanside field hockey players will assist in the program.
The league was scheduled to meet Wednesday nights from 5 to 6 p.m. beginning June 19 at the site of the former MacDougal School on Broadway in Rockland, but now will meet behind Rockland District Middle School at the final ball field on Thomaston Street heading away from the school.
The registration fee for the program, which is open to girls and boys entering first through sixth grades, is $20. Participants receive a league t-shirt. Registration forms may be downloaded at rsu13.org.
Summer adult field hockey games also are on tap and will follow the youth program on Wednesdays at the same venue, beginning at 6:15 p.m.
"It is free and all are welcome," said Hall. "We have equipment to lend out too."
