Mariner jayvees in fine midseason form

Oceanside stands at 3-1-3 after seven regular-season games

Thomaston — The Oceanside High School junior varsity girls soccer team has gotten off to a terrific start, sporting only one loss through seven games.

Led by coach Dave Banda, the Mariners sport a 3-1-3 record through Sept. 15 as the team continues to plug away through the fall campaign.

The following is a recap of results:

Oceanside 3, Nokomis 0

At Thomaston Sept. 15, the Mariners blanked the visiting Warriors and prevailed by three goals.

Jordan Carpenter, Samantha Calamari and Raegan Goulet scored goals for Oceanside, while Bri Dugan and Ireland LeBlanc each had two assists and Kingsley Holmes one assist. Ami Del Buono and Jalynn Hurd split time in net for the Mariners.

Oceanside outshot Nokomis 16-5 and held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Morse 2, Oceanside 1

At Bath Sept. 13, the Shipbuilders scored the lone goal of the second half, which proved enough to knock off the Mariners.

Kasie Waters scored for Oceanside. Morse outshot Oceanside 8-6, while the Mariners led 5-0 in corner kicks.

Oceanside 1, Winslow 1

At Thomaston Sept. 11, the Mariners and Black Raiders battled to a stalemate.

Dugan scored the lone goal of the game for Oceanside, on assists from Rytky and LeBlanc. Del Buono and Hurd split time in net for the Mariners.

Oceanside outshot Winslow 16-4 and held a 12-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Oceanside 1, Brunswick 1

At Thomaston Sept. 10, the Mariners and Dragons battled to a stalemate.

Sydney Brooks scored for Oceanside, on an assist from Dugan.

Oceanside outshot Brunswick 15-6 and held an 8-1 edge in corner kicks.

Oceanside 2, Mount View 0

At Thorndike Sept. 7, the Mariners shut out the host Mustangs and prevailed by two goals.

Makaye Stone and Dugan scored for the winners, on assists from Brooks and Leblanc. Becca Boggs, Katie Jacob, Emily Protheroe and Kalyn Grover all played well in the defensive end, while Samantha Calamari, Brittany Rytky and Alexis Pine did their part on the offensive side, coach Banda said.

Hurd and Del Buono played in net for Oceanside. The Mariners outshot the Mustangs 16-8 and attempted five corner kicks.

Oceanside 0, Gardiner 0

At Thomaston Sept. 6, the Mariners and Tigers battled to a scoreless tie.

Jordan Carpenter and Hurd split time in net for Oceanside.

Oceanside 2, Medomak 0

At Waldoboro Aug. 31, the Mariners blanked the host Panthers and prevailed by two goals.

Calamari and Brooks scored for the Mariners, while Stone added an assist.

Oceanside outshot Medomak 15-6, while Del Buono and Carpenter split time in net for the visitors.
