Marian R. Winchester
Augusta — Marian R. Winchester, 89, passed away peacefully in the night on Aug. 27, 2013, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta.
She was born in Dover, N.H. Feb. 25, 1924, the daughter of Earle and Helen (Rourke) Russell.
Marian married David B. Winchester Jan. 17, 1945. She worked as a medical secretary for many years before retiring in Camden.
She was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Camden, where she also served as secretary for 11 years. She enjoyed sewing, reading, and singing in the church choir as well as with the United Service Organization.
Marian was predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband, David.
She is survived by her five children, Scott R. Winchester and wife, Susan, of Gardiner, Guy L. Winchester and wife, Anita, of Holland, Diane W. Andrews and husband, Dale, of Bradenton, Fla., Mimi Winchester of Walnut Creek, Calif. and Suzanne Winchester of Portland; one sister, Judith Billingsley, of Chandler, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, Melissa Marshall and husband, William, Troy Andrews, Tiffany Andrews, Jacob Hoff, Genevieve Rice and husband, Jasper, and Kyle, Sanne and Mike Winchester; as well as her great-grandson, Joshua Andrews.
A memorial celebration of Marian’s life will be held Saturday, Aug. 31, at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 33 Chestnut St., Camden, with Rev. John Rafter celebrant. Interment will follow in the church’s memorial garden.
