Margaret P. Washburn
Rockport — Margaret P. (Holt) Washburn, 105, died peacefully on Oct. 20, 2012 at her son’s house in Rockport.
She was born Nov. 4, 1906 in Staunton, Va., daughter of Henry W. Holt, chief justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia and Mary C. (Braxton) Holt. Carter Braxton, signer of the Declaration of Independence was her great-great-grandfather.
She graduated from the University of Michigan in 1928 and worked for her father until marrying Rodney Washburn, president of the Mechanics National Bank of Worcester, Mass. in 1935. They were married for 60 years living first in Worcester then nearby at until age 96. She loved bird watching and all of nature, rowing her sleek boat until age 96.
She is survived by her three children and their extended families including 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Her last years in Rockport were enriched by dedicated care givers, nurses, volunteers, and doctor, all from the local community. Her family is deeply appreciative.
