Bangor — Following a three day search, Joseph Demmons, 29, of Holden was arrested in Bangor, according to the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies chased Demmons in Warren June 17 through the woods behind Ande's Variety on Route 1, but he was able to escape, according to a news release from Knox County Sheriff's Office.

Demmons was arrested on 12 warrants for failure to pay fines regarding operating under the influence, operating after suspension, refusing to submit to arrest, violation of conditions of release, and criminal threatening. He has two charges pending for failure to appear for thefts. All warrants are out of Penobscot County in Bangor.

It was discovered that Demmons has been staying out in the woods in a makeshift hut for some time. Demmons had many trails out through the woods and deputies were unable to locate him.

Knox County Sheriff's Office Deputy Chief Tim Carroll said Demmons was camping out on private property, and did not have permission to stay on the land.
