Making transition from kindergarten to first grade

Jan 20, 2013

Rockport — A fun and informative workshop all about the Ashwood Waldorf "Grade School Experience" will help parents determine if their child is ready for for first grade and set their minds at ease about this important transition in a child's life.

This workshop will explore the nature of the developing child and the principles that inform the Waldorf curriculum. We will also consider the following questions: What are the readiness indicators for first grade? How does the early childhood curriculum prepare students for grade school? What does the kindergarten to first grade transition look like? How is math and reading taught in grades one and two? There will be ample time for questions and discussion.

Teachers from both the Early Childhood program and the Grade School will be on hand to answer questions, facilitate conversation, and lead the group through sample first grade activities.

Participants will leave this workshop feeling informed and ready to support their child in this important and exciting transition.

Free and open to the public. Preregistration is required. Please call 236-8021 or email enrollment@ashwoodwaldorf.org for more information or to register.
