Making African masks at Lincolnville library

Children and parents are invited to come listen to African folktales and make their own masks Friday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Lincolnville Community Library.

Lincolnville — Children and parents are invited to come listen to African folktales and make their own masks Friday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Lincolnville Community Library.

Nanci Kendall will read a selection of stories and then each participant will have the opportunity to make a mask using a variety of materials, including feathers, shells, yarn, paint, felt and beads.

Kendall lives in Lincolnville and is a former early childhood teacher. The program is recommended for children ages 5 to 12.

In order to ensure the library has the right amount of materials, all those interested in participating are encouraged to sign up ahead of time by calling 763-4343 or sending and email to lincolnvillelibrary@tidewater.net. The library is located at 208 Main St. in Lincolnville Center.
