Don’t let the snow and cold or rain get you down because February is your destination for travel, adventure and inspiration…at the Rockport Public Library!

February Events:

February 09 at 10:00 are two Valentine-making Workshops. Join us at the Rockport Public Library on Saturday, from 10:00 am to noon, we'll cut, glue, stamp, embellish and emboss one-of-a-kind greetings for loved ones or friends. One workshop is open to teens and adults. One workshop is just right for children! Materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own lace, doilies, stamps (rubber or stick-on), or ephemera. The workshop will be led by librarian/artist Jane Babbitt. Space is limited--please call the library to register (236-3642).

Adventure Travel Adult Winter reading program through February: every book/ebook/audio book our patrons read on travel (fiction or nonfiction and even time travel!) is eligible to win a prize-contact the library for more information.

On February 13 at 6:30 The Rockport Public Library invites you to adventure to Newfoundland with photographer, Peter Ralston. The Maine coast has continually inspired Ralston, and his work has appeared in many books, magazines and galleries. Now, he has turned his passion and photographer’s eye towards Newfoundland. Ralston shares some fascinating stories and pictures which include the islands of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon and Grand Bruit.

February 20 with professional trekker, Kim Bannister takes us on a travel adventure to the Himalayas! Bannister works as part of a team that leads 7 to 8 treks per year to places like Nepal, Tibet, Bhutan and Mongolia. Come explore and learn about the amazing sights and people of the Himalayas. Begins at 6:30 pm.

February 27, 2013 at 7:00 pm, members of the Dirigo Toastmasters Club in Belfast, will present a collection of short inspirational speeches in  “A Night of Inspiration and Transformation.” This event will be held at the Rockport Opera House.
