Maine Water president recognized by state
Rockport — Judy E. Wallingford, president of the Maine Water Company, recently received the Jeff Nixon Distinguished Service Award from the Maine Water Utilities Association.
Presented at MWUA’s February meeting in Portland, the Jeff Nixon Distinguished Service Award is presented to MWUA members who have a career of service to the water utility profession and who have made outstanding contributions to the water works profession in Maine. Honorees for this prestigious award are chosen by their peers.
Wallingford began her career in the Maine water works industry 32 years ago, at what is now the Maine Water Company. She has been the president of that company for 20 years, and recently became president of the Biddeford and Saco Water Company, which is now affiliated with Maine Water.
Wallingford has been active in the association on various committees and served as its president in 2005. She currently serves on the Legislative and Regulatory Affairs Committee.
In presenting the award, Jon Ziegra, president of MWUA, stated, “Judy is clearly a leader in the water industry and highly respected by her peers, myself most definitely included. The Maine Water Company is a leader in service, both to its rate-paying customers and neighboring utilities it contracts services with, as well as an active force in furthering the water industry in Maine. Presenting her with the Jeff Nixon Distinguished Service Award was a most fitting honor.”
The Maine Water Utilities Association is a nonprofit membership organization that represent the water works professional membership in advocating safe drinking water through education, legislation, policy and networking.
