Maine Theater Fund seeks grant proposals
The Maine Theater Fund of the Maine Community Foundation seeks grant proposals to support professional and community theaters in the production and presentation of live theater in Maine.
Proposals for funding will be accepted from local, regional and statewide community and professional nonprofit theaters for programmatic, capacity building, operating and capital support. The deadline for applications is Sunday, Sept. 15. A new online application is available at mainecf.org.
Last year, the Maine Theater Fund distributed a total of $50,240. The 13 grants ranged in size from $2,000 to the maximum award amount of $5,000. Among the organizations that received funding were the Heartwood Regional Theater Company of Damariscotta, to create, staff and market the premiere production of “The Legend of Jim Cullen”; and SPACE Gallery of Portland, to present “The Age of Enlightenment on E Floor North,” a new play by experimental theater company Strange Attractor.
