‘Maine Photography Show’ nears end

Boothbay Harbor — The eighth annual “Maine Photography Show,” sponsored by Boothbay Region Art Foundation, runs through Friday, May 3. The show may be seen Fridays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the BRAF gallery at 1 Townsend Ave.; call 633-2703 for possible weekday availability.

The show’s 100 images were selected out of more than 800 entries by jurist Tony Sweet, who also awarded prize winners in four categories: Color; B&W; Student; and special theme, Trees. Midcoast winners include Charles Laurier Dufour of Belfast, whose “The Final Good-Bye” won First Place B&W; two Oceanside High School students who won in the Student division. “Transition” by Emmaline Waldron won First Place, and “Gulliver's Travels” by Elena Laustsen won Second Place; and Camden's Yanmei McElhaney, who won Third Place in the Student division.

Also juried into the show are Paula Cannon, Belfast; student Grace Bonarrigo, Belmont; Peter Imber, Camden; Joan Holmes, Lincolnville; Herman Meisner, Northport; Ed Kenney, Owls Head; Carol Reid, Rockland; Dara Hurt and Amy Campbell, Rockport; Elizabeth Blackmer, Tenants Harbor; Ruth Barnett and Richard Barnett, Thomaston; Angela Waldron, Union; and Kristina Day Osgood, Vinalhaven.
