Maine Memory Network presented in Camden

Aug 01, 2014

Camden — The Maine Historical Society will give a presentation on The Maine Memory Network at Camden Public Library Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 7 p.m.

The presentation will describe to the general public how to participate online and contribute photos and local history to the statewide Maine Memory Network.

Over the past couple of years, the Historical Society has held a number of 21st-century skills workshops to demonstrate Maine Memory Network to library and historical society professionals. They are offering this shorter (90 minute) public program version of the skills workshop to get the word out more broadly about Maine Memory.

It will showcase the diverse content in the network, and show the general public how to access it, and even eventually contribute to it (either through an organization or, in the next year or so, directly as an individual). It’s in line with the trend toward “maker space” programming since there will be a couple extra laptops on hand for people to do some searching themselves, and they’ll learn how to create their own digital albums within the system. The program is totally free to the host site and attendees.
