Thomaston — On Feb. 21, Machias Savings presented a $7,500 check to representatives of the Pope Memorial Humane Society of Knox County.

The check represents the bank’s three-year pledge in support of PMHSKC’s Capital Campaign targeting a new animal shelter facility.

“The Pope Memorial Humane Society has been creating happiness for pets and people since 1989, and they really need a new, larger facility. We are committed to helping them build a new shelter, and we challenge other businesses in the area to lend support to this important campaign,” said Machias Savings Assistant Vice President and Rockland Branch Manager Judy Brogden in a news release.

“We are thrilled with Machias Savings’ generosity. Their ongoing support of our organization and capital campaign, through their volunteerism, advice, and financial support, has been extraordinary,” added PMHSKC Executive Director Tracy Sala.
